Eating disorders and mental health are deeply interconnected, but too often they are treated as separate conversations. In clinical practice, they show up together every day: clients navigating body image distress, anxiety, trauma responses, obsessive thoughts around food, emotional dysregulation, and restrictive or binge–purge cycles that often function as coping strategies rather than isolated symptoms.
Training Objectives:
- Identify and differentiate at least 5 different types of Eating Disorders.
- Discuss biological, psychological, and socio-cultural contributions to Eating Disorders.
- Describe the core diagnostic categories (Anorexia, Bulimia, Binge Eating Disorder, ARFID, and related conditions).
- Compare and contrast DSM and ICD approaches to diagnosing Eating Disorders.
- Discuss co-occurring disorders and common psychological comorbidities in Eating Disorders.
- Describe a multi-modal treatment approach, including individual, family, group, and medical interventions.
